About our organization

Alternative Seasonal Breaks (ASB) is an official non-profit UIUC organization that is run through the YMCA. The organization focuses on sending students on volunteer trips across the nation, and the world to interact with different communities. ASB strives to advocate for social justice and environmental issues and works to create a safe environment to facilitate these discussions. Through these experiences, they hope to bridge gaps between students and the community and work towards getting them involved with activism.

More About Us!

What we do

1. Volunteer

As an organization, we strive to help and give back to others. Whether it is picking up trash in a state park or handing out water bottles in a marathon, we do what we can to help and encourage others along the way.

2. Travel

With our volunteering, we travel to different places that need us. We travel for education, purpose, and enjoyment whether it be in another city, state, or country.

3. Connect

Ultimately, we connect with people through our service and travels. We want to establish meaningful relationships with the people we meet and those who we help along the way.

What is ASB to you?

ASB is an organization built on a principle of helping and educating others. We want students to find passion in fighting for community causes, and wanting to be involved with the world.
